Flowage

Chippewa County Flowages

The Chippewa Rod and Gun Club has partnered with Chippewa County to help manage some of the flowages in the northern part of Chippewa County.

The purpose of the management is to promote habitat for wildlife. Control is managed by controlling the water level in the flowage to promote plant growth. The growth of milfoil (invasive species) can be controlled by timing the depth of the water in these flowages. Also, wild rice needs the right water conditions to grow. Controlling the water depth and quality will increase the number and types of wildlife which in turn will mean better opportunities for bird watching and hunting for the public.
